Car window tinting doesn’t come cheap. It is quite expensive, and it is so for all the right reasons. You may only look at it a sun-protective shield, but it offers plenty of benefits in the long run, from keeping your car cooler to your interior looking as fresh as new, car window tinting is a critical value addition to your vehicle. However, like everything else, it doesn’t last forever. But fret not. We’ve listed down some exclusive tips that will help you extend the lifespan of the tint film on your vehicle windows. Let’s have a look at them below:

1.     Use Suitable Cleaning Products

Not all car cleaning products are suitable to be used over the tint film. Some chemicals in the cleaning product, like ammonia, may cause discoloration and damage to the film. One way to keep your car window tint intact for longer is to make sure you use suitable cleaning products only. Read the labels of cleaning products to make sure they can be applied to car tint films. Many car tint film-specific products are available in the market. It’ll be best to opt for them.

2.     Use Soft Squeegees and Clothes to Clean

If you wish to extend the lifespan of your car window tint, you’ve got to make sure that you protect it from all sorts of abrasion. The sponge or the cloth that you use to wipe the tint film can also damage the surface of the film if it is too rough or coarse. Therefore, always use soft cloths and squeegees to clean the inner side of your windows. As far as the exterior of the windows is concerned, you can use any cleaning product and tools that you want since that’s not where the tint film is installed.

3.     Allow the Tint Film to Cure Fully

One of the many reasons why the car window tinting doesn’t last long enough is the basic care at the time of installation. It can take anywhere up to a week for the car window tint to cure fully. Make sure that you don’t roll your windows down your clean the surface during the curing period. It can lead to the formation of bubbles or the peeling of the film from the corners. The better the tint film is cured, the longer it will stay intact and functional.

4.     Be Careful While Cleaning Excess Adhesive

There might be some extra adhesive around the window tint film. You’ve got to be very careful while cleaning that off. Use a microfiber cloth or a clean cotton cloth with a dab of acetone to clean the extra adhesive from the sides. Make sure that you clean the affected areas only.

Summary

Many times, bubbles appear on the car window tint. Usually, it is a sign that you need to get a new car window tinting. However, if you just got one, you probably encountered a wrong company. One of the critical tips to ensure that your car window tinting stays intact for longer is to get the service done from reliable tinting professionals only.
